Exciting news coming soon! Hint: Something with a root or color.
Lili Chin
We commissioned Lili Chin, author of the book Kitty Language, to create illustrations for our article published in Frontiers for Young Minds, a science journal with articles written for and reviewed by kids. She is phenomenal at drawing cats and dogs, but also at drawing pinguins and pigs!
Most cats who do not enjoy catnip, will love other cat-attracting plants such as silver vine or Tatarian honeysuckle.

Cowboy Cat Ranch founder Sebastiaan Bol fell in love with this sculpture the first time he saw it. It was located in the Marble Hall of the KIT Royal Tropical Institute in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, where he was attending a science conference in 2009.
The sculpture of a lioness with a cub in her mouth, and her head and body raised on guard was made by the Dutchman Joseph Henry Teixeira de Mattos in 1900.
In the photograph below the sculpture can be seen prominently placed in the Light Hall in 1926, when the KIT Royal Tropical Institute was officially opened by Queen Wilhelmina of the Netherlands.
Paul Jenkins
This breathtaking bronze sculpture Playing Cat was made by the English sculpture Paul Jenkins (not to be confused with the painter Paul Jenkins). Unfortunately, his website no longer exists.
Two other bronze cat sculptures made by Paul Jenkins. Stretching Cat and Lying Cat.
Rainbow Whiskers
The Dutch painter Braldt Bralds emigrated from the Netherlands to the USA, just like the founders of Cowboy Cat Ranch did. Braldt painted his three cats Droop, Doortje & Kaatje and the resemblance with Olli, Vlinder and Namibia is astonishing!
In 1983 the American Lung Association used the image for a poster which called attention to the hazards of second hand smoke to animals as well as human. "We Don't Want You To Smoke. Your Furry friends don't want you to smoke. Your Lung Association doesn't want you to smoke. That's why this poster was created. We placed it here because we don't want you to smoke either. Especially here."

Art by Heim
John Heim is a brilliant, genius cartoonist. This man alone was enough reason for us to not abandon Twitter. In 2023 he made several cartoons for us, some commissioned and paid for, some spontaneously and for free. Unfortunately, he does not have a website, but since 2025 we have a special page on our website and you can follow him on Twitter. You can also contact him by email if you are looking for a custom piece of your pet or family: artbyheim@gmail.com.
Cats love sticks too!
Silver vine stem contains cat-attracting volatiles that elicit responses similar to those seen when cats smell catnip. The responses to these silver vine wood sticks are typically more subtle. Most cats who like the silver vine sticks will rub the stick with their head and lick it.
Mainor Abarca
The founders of Cowboy Cat Ranch purchased this small, happy cat painting in Costa Rica after Sebastiaan attended and presented Cowboy Cat Ranch's research at the Animal Behavior Society held in San Jose, Costa Rica in 2022.
Dora is an amazing painter from Hungary who has her atelier in Portugal. Almost every room at Cowboy Cat Ranch has one of her paintings on a wall. She made the wonderful painting of Cowboy for us.
Manga / anime (Japanese art form) illustrating the potency of silver vine by Kenjiro Hata.
Isumi Saginomiya (the girl) is sad when Shiranui (a young cat) doesn’t like her. Hayate Ayasaki (Isumi’s friend) helps by spraying matatabi (silver vine) tincture on the girl. Shiranui then jumps on Isumi and they play together.
We commissioned scientific and medical illustrator Vicky Earl (Draw in Nature) to create this botanical drawing of known cat-attracting plants. The illustration was used in our article published in BMC Biology in 2022.
