Exciting news coming soon! Hint: Something with a root or color.
Cowboy Cat Ranch is surrounded by lots of wildlife, small and big. Our 10 acre land (and that of our neighbors) is habitat for mountain lions and bobcats, but also for dozens if not hundreds of other animal species. The arrival of European settlers, ranching and the growth of the human population have significantly deteriorated the quality and reduced the size of their habitat. Cowboy Cat Ranch strives to protect the 10 acres of land for the animals and is actively working to restore the native savannah landscape. You can read more about this work here.
What is Cowboy Cat Ranch protecting?
On this page—and pages it links to—you can see photographs and videos of all the animals we have seen at Cowboy Cat Ranch. All photographs are made by Evelien Bunnik, unless stated otherwise.
The Texas Hill Country is home to several native feline species, one of which is the bobcat (Lynx rufus). We have had the distinct pleasure to see a wild bobcat at Cowboy Cat Ranch with our own eyes twice, on both occasions at the middle of the day.
We were only able to video record the bobcat once. This video of the bobcat at daytime was taken through our window, while the bobcat was walking past our house at only a couple of feet distance. As you can tell, it is not difficult to come to the conclusion that this is a bobcat.
We caught one bobcat on our wildlife camera once.
